Work Packages

WP 1 - Background information gathering

This WP aims to develop a common methodology and an integrated tool for the collection of information from the target group including immigrants and refugees. In order to enable the partnership to define the prototypes of services, actually, it is necessary to analyse the refugees and immigrants’ needs as well as the needs of the local authorities and of the public administration.

Further to an analysis of the state of the art on the tools and methods used to gather the information, they will established a common integrated and storable methodology for data collection. Later on, they will deal with the interviews and, consequently, with the information gathering; in this respect, they plan to involved minimum 130 immigrants.

WP 2 - Codesign processes

This WP aims at defining the users’ requirements, scenarios, features and navigation flows of the toolbox. The preliminary research, already carried on during the proposal presentation phase, will be integrated by collecting data and information coming from local, public authorities and service providers. This task is aimed at analysing the existing flow of service provision, involving the authorities of all the 3 clusters of the partner countries (Spain, Greece and Italy).

Later on, co-creation workshops will  be organized in the three main countries involved in the project (Italy, Greece and Spain) with the participation of experts covering scientific, technical and social fields: cognitive and social psychologists, services designers, ICT systems designers, developers, legal experts, social and political scientists.

The objective of these workshops is to define effective scenarios and prototypes of the REBUILD toolbox to enhance communication between immigrants and public authorities.

WP 3 – Data analysis and skills matching

The objective of this WP is to get a model to enhance the interaction between immigrants and refugees and the reception countries based on three pillars: making a profile analysis based on the deep-learning methodology.

Secondly, support an integration path through new needs and users’ skill-based solutions and, finally, implement a follow-up method to maximize the system performance by means of analysis of the subjective opinion and of the experience within the REBUIDL environment.

The data gathered from the immigrants will be processed in order to give the public authorities a range of data that will be useful to plan their policies. The typologies of requested information will be five at least: ethnicity, age, origin, family situation, skills, education, future goals, and preferences.

WP 4 – The digital companion

WP 4 is aimed at creating a digital companion acting as a communication and information centre to enhance connections between immigrants and public administrations.

This WP aims at providing the digital companion with a set of tools enabling to access a range of information on available services to support immigrants in their integration process.

The system is aimed a acting as digital guide to support immigrants in their new country. The activities will be focused also on the overcoming of language barriers.

A “rule-based” chatbot service will be the core of the digital companion and a personalized interaction will enhance the way information is given to the user.

WP 5 – Integration and technical validation

The objective of this work package is the realization of the REBUILD platform ready for the pilot phase. The WP activities will therefore consist in defining the platform architecture, the general mechanisms for integrating the various components, including the system interface, and in defining the operational plan.

WP 6 – Deployment, piloting and user validation

The main objective of this WP will be to define, organize and perform test sessions with selected users (minimum 30 users among immigrants and public and local service providers from Italy, Spain and Greece) before the release of the first version of REBUILD platform. Actually, the results will be used to validate the application and give useful feedbacks to enhance the toolbox.

The EP activities will be focused on usability, accessibility, user acceptance, cognitive breakpoints in all interaction and communication modules of the REBUILD platform.

A minimum of three testing involving a minimum of 30 users from both user groups will be done before the final delivery of the first version of the REBUILD system.

WP 7 – Fundamental Rights, ethical impacts and cross-culturality

The activities of this WP will have to assure that REBUILD respects the users’ rights and will have to monitor their compliance with the principle of responsible research in accordance with the expectations, rights and dignity of the participants.

Consequently, the WP’s main objectives are connected with the fundamental rights, ethical impact and cross-culturality and consist in illustrating the data flows within the consortium (by adopting legal, ethical and security protocols); in identifying any risks at a social level that may result from the implementation of the ICT solutions and in the ethical control of data handling.

In addition, the WP will take into account any cultural factors that may affect the data being supplied.

WP 8 – Dissemination and communication

The WP will deal with activities linked to the communication and dissemination of the project results. The is to assure the widest external visibility to the project and for any stakeholders that may be interested in it thanks to a range of tools including the realization of a website and a set of communication strategies. It will have to assure that all target users (immigrates and public authorities) have a clear idea of the service provision and that there is a wide general awareness in those who might exploit its results.

The project will directly address the concerned communities and will act according their feedbacks in order to enhance the effectiveness of the supplies services to make the project have a real impact and keeps on having an impact even after its completion.

WP 9 – Socio-economic impact assessment and exploitation

The task of WP 9 is to develop a methodology for assessing economic and social impact and, consequently, continuously monitor the project activities in order to fine-tune this methodology by questionnaires, interviews and focus groups. A first assessment will be made at month 15 and at the end. Actually, one of the project objectives is to strengthen social links at local level and promote social inclusion.

DEN Institute will design the methodology through the identification of qualitative and quantitative indicators, to be mapped in relation to immigrants and public authorities. As regards immigrants they will take into account, for example, any increase of the literacy level and the perception about their degree of integration. As regards the local authorities, they will map, for example, the enhancement of their capacities in managing service provision to immigrants. The impact assessment will involve at least 100 immigrants and 3 local authorities.

In order to support the project achievements in the long run, REBUILD will develop a sustainability plan detailing the strategies and actions for the three years following the project completion. In addition, they will supply individual exploitation plans for all the partners involved as well as a wide-ranging exploitation strategy that will be based on the opportunities for public-private partnerships and on the participation in public bidding.

WP 10 – Management

WP 10 is devoted to the project management. The main objective of this package are to provide an overall project management and coordination; ensure the quality management and assurance; maintain the information flow among the partners; provide administrative and financial control according to the work plan.

Within this general coordination activity, UNINETTUNO will have to establish the procedures, project management methods (example: data management plan), organize a kick-off meeting and coordinate each partner to allow for the achievement of the results, monitor the work plan and relative progress, identify and solve any technical and organizational problems and plan and organized coordination meetings.
In addition, it will be responsible for the management and for quality and assurance plan. It will be responsible of the administrative coordination (keeping financial records), distribution of partner shares according to the consortium agreement rules, keeping all contract documents, periodic reporting and audits required by the Commission.

UNINETTUNO will be responsible for organizing periodic project meetings and committees for project progress review and solution of possible disputes.
